Sean, congratulations on your new allotment.
I wanted to contact you as this weekend I was passing Chiltern Foliat and stopped off at The Walled garden as did you some years ago. I know you are a fan of the Victorian Garden series and Harry. The reason for my email is that I wanted you to know that one of the potting sheds at the walled garden has been converted into a rest room and the others are small offices. To my great surprise inside on the walls are Harry’s original office sign “HJ Dodson OFFICE” and 2 other signs, one with lettering “Col EJS Ward and underneath Head Gardner Mr H J Dodson, Chiltern, Hungerford” and an arrow sign with “Chiltern Gardens”. All three signs I recall from the series. I took a short video and some pictures, if you would like to see them I could forward. I am so so pleased that his iconic office sign is still exsists and being displayed in his memory and all these years.
I had a fantastic time, almost spiritial. I have wanted to visit after watching the series as I do every winter waiting for spring to arrive. It was a honour to see the walled garden, Harrys office and home. The fruit store is still there and in good shape.
