First visit to the Hither Green allotment

My first London allotment was based at Castillon Road Allotments in Hither Green – plot 2.

I was also working nights during that period and couldn’t find enough time in the day to get to the plot which was around 2 miles from my home. These are the only two videos I have of that allotment.

My plot was in the corner and surrounded by brambles, everywhere you looked they were 6ft tall. I had been put in the corner who nobody was passing to have a chat with so it wasn’t the best environment to spend any time.

A few months after having the allotment I moved from the area to Sydenham and having to take 2 buses then walk a mile to the plot wasn’t a thrilling idea so I ended my tenancy.
